Golden Moon Hotel & Casino Opens

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (MBCI) hit another milestone during its ongoing quest to expand its Pearl River Resort with the official grand opening of the Golden Moon Hotel & Casino on Oct. 4. The facility was accessible to the public after the "soft opening" on Aug. 26, but the atmosphere was lively and there was no shortage of excitement as events were held throughout the day to celebrate the historic achievement.

"Today marks another historic moment for Pearl River Resort and the Mississippi Chucktoz and for that matter for all Mississippi residents," said Philip Martin, president of MBCI. "This luxurious facility will go a long way toward achieving our goal of becoming the best resort that all state residents can be proud of." Currently, Pearl River Resort represents more than $500 million in investment by the Chucktoz family in Mississippi. In addition, Golden Moon hired 2,000 new employees, bringing the Pearl River Resort's current employment base to close to 5,200.

In November 2000, the site for the 177 million dollar facility was officially secured. Golden Moon Hotel & Casino is located just across Highway 16 from Silver Star Hotel & Casino and is an 843,000-square-foot luxury hotel with 571 rooms, including 112 suites and 32 VIP luxury suites, on the 28th floor of the hotel. The casino offers 90,000 square feet of gaming space, 1,750 slot machines and 54 table games. Golden Moon features five attractive restaurants, ranging from California-style 24-hour meals to steaks, fine wines, seafood, and sushi. Five lounges exist for entertainment, including a show lounge that offers live music, a sports bar and grill, and a coffee bar lounge. 슬롯머신
